El Dorado, AR Wedding Photography* Jennifer + Jesse Wedding Day

Outdoor December weddings in Arkansas can be hit or miss with getting cooperation from the weather. When I met with the bride & groom early in the week everyone was predicting rain, but by Saturday those chances had dwindled to nothing and it was a beautiful day for Jennifer and Jesse to say their vows at the Granite Club in El Dorado.

The Granite Club owned by Richard and Vertas Mason is in the recently restored McKinney/O’Connor house located at the corner of E. Faulkner and N. Madison. While I have used the grounds of this house for a couple different shoots in the past, this was my first and hopefully not last opportunity to shoot inside as this place is really beautiful. Hats off to the Masons for keeping this El Dorado landmark alive.

I can remember my first job was working for Dale Shirey who ran Shireys Wag-a-Bag when I was 14 and we used to deliver groceries to Mrs. McKinney from time to time. I remember us pulling around back and having to use the basement entrance. Even back then this old house impressed me. As I got older and the years past by I would occasionally drive past this house and think of those days and was disappointed and saddened that place just looked vacant and run down. I had wrongly assumed no one was living there. Turns out Mrs. McKinney was still living there most of those years, but as she got older she felt safer staying there with the estate having and unkempt, vacant look to it. While I am not sure I agree with the thought process I guess I can see why someone might think this way. Anyway, it is nice to see this old home as gotten a facelift and is being used again as it provided a wonderful atmosphere for Jennifer and Jesses' wedding day.

Below are just a few of some of my favorite images from the wedding. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did working with this couple and their families. Some weddings I work it seems just like that...like work. Sort of a you’re the hired help now go do your job and thats OK. With Jennifer and Jesse though things were just different from the time we arrived. It was so laid back. Everyone made us feel so very welcome and an actual part of the event. It made working for these two that much more pleasant. I guess you might have noticed I used the term us when referring to working for them. I have to say a very special thank you to the beautiful and talented Amy Hough of Amy Hough Photography from Little Rock who came down to assist me on this one. It was a pleasure working with you Amy and thanks for saving me all those trips up and down the stairs!
